PRIDE Summer Camps 2017 Build-A-Bot As the final week of robotics camps comes to a close, the Build-A-Bot camp was very successful. Many interested minds of young elementary and middle school students are becoming more involved with STEM. Their interests have expanded further out to join FIRST robotics when they are at Penn High School. Build-A-Bot camp is a camp designed for 5th through 8th graders. Penn STEM Scholarships 2017 The 2016-2017 FIRST robotics competition season was an overwhelming success. In our very accomplished season, we applied for the Gene HAAS Foundation grant and were given $12,000.  With receiving the generous amount, the Penn Robotics team gave five seniors who were pursuing engineering and STEM in college $1,000 each. Team 135 also received scholarship money from an anonymous donor. The donor gave four special seniors $500 each who made an remarkable impact on Team 135 which lead to our amazing accomplishments. PRIDE Summer Camps 2017 Every year since 2005, Penn Robotics has coordinated and hosted two different robotics summer camps for elementary and middle school students. The first week, June 12-16, we inspired and collaborated with young minds in The 3D Modeling & Design camp, The Creativity Beginner camp, The Creativity Advanced camp, The Design and Architecture camp, and The Engineering & Manufacturing camp. Granger Business Association Promotional Commercial This Thursday June 8, six students from Team 135 traveled to Knollwood Country Club. We brought our 2017 competition robot, Venti, to shoot a promotional commercial for the Granger Business Association's’ annual golf outing with abc57 News. The event will take place on July 17, 2017 at Knollwood Country Club from 11:00am- 1:00pm and 5:30pm- 7:30pm. Robotics at Prairie Vista On Thursday, June 1st Penn Robotics Team 135 visited Prairie Vista Elementary School, one of the eleven elementary schools in the Penn Harris Madison school corporation. The team spoke to175 fourth and fifth graders about FIRST and the robotics programs offered at Penn High School, which they will be attending in just a few short years. Friends of Granger Paths 5K Run May 21, 2017 marked another successful community event for Mishawaka. Granger Paths hosted a 5k / fun walk to raise money to build sidewalks around the area; the idea for which was set forth by county Councilman Dale Devon, who hoped the citizens of the area will make use of additional pathways.     The race was created and managed by the “Friends of Granger Paths,” who worked in partnership with volunteers like members of Team 135.   Last Saturday on May the 6th Penn Robotics Team 135 volunteered as a part of the Silver Mile Run for Education at Penn High School. The annual event consists of a 5K run, Family Run, and a large area for local organizations to present to the community put on by the PHM School Corporation. Penn Robotics is one of a few organizations that presents yearly to community, and jumped again at the opportunity to reach out to people about FIRST® (at the FTC and FRC levels) and STEM.  …

The Perry Meridian District Event marked an outstanding achievement for Team 135. During the three-day timespan of the March competition, Team 135 was able to accumulate recognition as a highly competitive robotics team as well as receiving the ever-coveted Chairman’s award. The team robot performed well, with early seeding matches allowing for 135 to steadily move up the ranks. Around the time of the thirtieth match the team was ranked fourteenth; though by the end of the match sets, the Black Knights had secured the third alliance position for finals.…
